Our CSA
A CSA is definately a learning experience.  The 2011 season was an experience. Wet, wet spring, and a dry, dry fall, but lots of delicious veggies were harvested and enjoyed.  We had 24 members last summer.  There were only 16 weeks of deliveries because of the early (Sept 14th) frost.  We average 18 weeks with one year at 19.  Frosts normally hit a month later.

2 Subscription Options  -

Veggie Lovers Box:  This weekly box is filled with all the veggies you love with a taste of the more exotic!  There will be lots of the more common vegetables, veggies you can eat raw or frequently buy in the store.  THere will be tastes of: less common veggies, rare varieties of common vegetables, fruit and herbs.  This box is for you if you want farm fresh veggies grown with no chemicals from a local farmer.
Price: $400  plus $25 delivery fee if not picked up at the farm

Whole Hog Box:  This box will be similar to the Veggie Lovers but with MORE!  It will include more of the uncommon veggies plus more herbs, fruit, flowers and eggs, when available.  We're planning for a half dozen eggs a week if the chickens do as they should.  If you love to cook, experiment with new recipes and try new and exotic things, this will be the share for you!  There will only be a limited number of these shares, it may already be sold out!
Price: $500,  plus $25 delivery fee if not picked up at the farm

Also...  With your subscription you will have input into the types and varieties of vegetables we grow.  You are also invited to come to the farm on "open farm" days or at other times by appointment.  We will have 2 "Down on the Farm Days", one in May and September.  While here you can help in the garden, learn to milk a goat, ride a pony, gather eggs or just enjoy the wide open spaces.  We are also having Come Visit Saturdays, where every 2nd Saturday June thru September you can come out and help in the morning, see the farm, and possibly get some extra produce if we've got it.  Or we are available almost anytime for members to come out and visit!

You’ll also receive a weekly newsletter with a list of what you’ve received and directions on handling your produce.  Don’t know what to do with kale?   Don’t worry; we’ll give you recipes as well.  Most will be fairly quick and easy but we’ll have a few that are more gourmet.  We also have a Monthly newsletter as well that we send via email, no email, we'd be happy to mail it to you.

Pick-up Locations:  As of now our pick up points are in Edina, Waconia, Chaska(limited amounts),  and here at the farm.  Days and times of the pick-ups will be determined later depending on membership.
Your first box of produce, full of greens and rhubarb, should be ready by the first week of June, your last box should be in the middle of October, depending on the weather.  The last boxes should contain squash, rutabagas, carrots, kale, and potatoes.  In 2007, the first box was delivered the first week of June, and the last was the second week of October.

The last week was basically all potatoes.  Everyone got about 20+ pounds of them this season, and we have lots of seed potatoes for next season.  We’ll see how it works.  They also got over 23 lbs of Tomatoes, 15+lbs Beans, 20+lbs Squash, 13+lbs Greens, 6+lbs Broccoli, 5+lbs Cabbage, 4+lbs Peas, 6+lbs Peppers, 5+lbs Eggplant, and LOTS more!

We did have a drop off point in New Ulm, MN at the Bohemian Bed and Breakfast, visit them at www.the-bohemian.com.  Love ya Bobbi!
